New Jersey Intensive Outpatient Drug Rehab

Intensive Outpatient rehab programs are one of the best options if you or a loved one need professional help for an addiction to drugs or alcohol. In recent years, the substance abuse industry has evolved to include this type of program as a standard within every quality drug addiction treatment center. Intensive Outpatient Programs also referred to IOP’s, do not require that the person remains on the premises as with residential rehab programs. This choice is ideal for individuals who wish to reside at a halfway house, their home, or a nearby relative’s house.

How Long Will This Take?

The commitment that an IOP expects from their clients is the ability to attend treatment for a minimum of 3 days a week for approximately 3 hours. This schedule leaves ample time for work or education, or other programs to assist their recovery. The Intensive Outpatient programs we recommend in New Jersey are all overseen by a staff of professionals who specialize in addiction recovery. Medical practitioners such as Doctors, Psychiatrists, Counselors, and Therapists all work together to monitor and treat each client’s addiction.

What is Available with Intensive Outpatient Rehab

The types of counseling and therapy that are available from the New Jersey drug IOP programs we advocate for include group therapy, individual counseling, holistic therapies, relapse prevention, drug and alcohol education, stress management, anger management, and dual diagnosis treatment options. The combination of these types of treatment programs increases the chances of each client’s potential in realizing that they can end their addiction. With help from others and the tools that they learn in an IOP program, clients discover that they can live very fulfilled lives clean and sober.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, NIDA, regular outpatient programs are limited because they do not offer enough support through varied programs. However, IOP’s are acknowledged favorably,

“Outpatient treatment varies in the types and intensity of services offered. Such treatment costs less than residential or inpatient treatment and often is more suitable for people with jobs or extensive social supports. It should be noted, however, that low-intensity programs may offer little more than drug education. Other outpatient models, such as intensive day treatment, can be comparable to residential programs in services and effectiveness, depending on the individual patient’s characteristics and needs. In many outpatient programs, group counseling can be a major component. Some outpatient programs are also designed to treat patients with medical or other mental health problems in addition to their drug disorders.” (NIDA).

The IOP’s that we recommend in New Jersey each have an extensive history of success in helping addicts and alcoholics remain clean and sober for good. These programs utilize evidence-based types of treatment to help newly recovering addicts and alcoholics to come out of denial and help empower their recovery. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT, is one type of therapy that has had enormous success in the treatment of drug and alcohol addiction. CBT is a psycho-social type of psychotherapy that aims to improve mental health. CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful thought patterns and cognitive beliefs and behaviors. The results of CBT are an improved mental outlook, emotional wellness, and development of personal coping strategies that help to solve current problems.
